A Favorite Pastime
Boating in Cape Coral is a lifestyle of unequaled enjoyment
whether it is on the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico or
the backwaters and rivers. Next to golfing, it is the most
requested amenity that SW Florida home buyers desire.
A
Boat at Home
Most home buyers would prefer a boat in their backyard
and there are pros and cons to that wish. It is definitely
more convenient to be able to go out of your house and step
on your boat. It makes cleanup and maintenance easier as
well. There is a price for that convenience, however, and
it usually means that your land costs are higher for water
access, which can often average more than 1/3 of the value
of the home.
A consideration many boaters make is docking or storing
their boat at the local marina. While it is not as convenient
as having it in your own backyard, it is often a way to
get more house for your money, because you are not paying
for waterfront property. Costs average between $5 and $10
per foot per month, depending on location and services.
If you have wet storage (boat dock) you can come and go
as you please. Dry storage requires you to call ahead so
your boat will be waiting in the water for you.
Marina Boating
If you enjoy Cape Coral boating, then you will be living
in paradise! You can enjoy the many beaches that have boat-only-access
on the blue water of the Gulf of Mexico, travel to your
favorite restaurants, go shopping by boat, or take a trip
to the Florida Keys. The back water area takes you back
in time with its rich natural beauty. For another adventure,
take a trip on the Caloosahatchee River and its upper tributaries.
The
Gulf of Mexico offers some of the best ocean-style boating
in the U.S. with it usual moderate waves. Boating in SW
Florida is geared for the lower draft boats, because many
of the waterways have a 3-foot draft. There are areas that
accommodate larger boats, however, the gulf is a shallow
body of water with many areas averaging less then 30 feet.
If you enjoy fishing, you'll love Southwest Florida. Some
of the best fishing in Florida is found on the West Coast
whether it is on the Gulf or the back bays, it's a fisherman's
dream. Should boating be one of the amenities to your new
home, then be sure to first speak with one of our knowledgeable
